Abdi Hubsey

Abdi Hubsey is the Academic Coordinator for the School of Business, Computing & Social Sciences, as well as the Quality Assurance and Partnership Manager at the University of Greater Manchester - Academic Centre RAK. With over 25 years of experience in UK higher education—9 years in the UK and 16 years in Ras Al Khaimah—Mr Abdi brings extensive expertise in teaching, academic leadership, and institutional development.

Mr Hubsey completed his further pre-university education at the Manchester College of Art and Technology, followed by HE Diploma in Business and Information Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University, and an MSc in Electronic Business at the University of Greater Manchester, UK.

In addition to teaching across Business and Computing disciplines, Abdi has played a pivotal role in curriculum development, quality assurance, and partnership management, serving as a key liaison between the academic centre and the home campus. He is also an External Examiner, Centre Approval, and Training Officer for several UK vocational awarding bodies, with professional experience spanning the Middle East and North Africa.

His research interests focus on academic leadership, quality assurance, and the transformative impact of AI in higher education. Outside academia, Abdi is an active sports enthusiast and serves as the coach of the university football team.
